How do I book a M/C tour?

Simple really, email jo@jdstours.co.nz and discuss which tour & what year you wish to go. From there she will post you an info pack containing a Free copy of " Work Can Wait " a CD of photos and a facts & costs letter. You & Jo will make it happen.

Do we start riding on the day of arrival?

NO. Because most riders fly into the USA from their homeland, a Bike Free stopover to recover from jetlag & do some sightseeing / shopping is really welcome. Across country flightsusually have a halfway stopover as well.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

What you normally ride in, but we send you a list of essentials once you are confirmed with your booking.

How many people in a tour?

Ideally we ride with a limited [ around 10 ] bikes, but because we can have single riders, the numbers can vary.... safety & stress free riding is our goal.

Do I have to be a Harley Rider to come on a tour?

NO you don't, in fact the majority of our clients ride other makes but Harleys are just American cruisers made for these roads.

Do we ride everyday?

The tours have built in flexibility, We stay 2 nights in a few locations and more at Sturgis or Daytona Rallies to provide relaxation, sightseeing or the opportunity to explore.

Do I need to bring rain gear?

Yes, it is recommended to bring your own.

What kind of insurance do you recommend?

Insurance while operating the M/C is mandatory and is done when we pick up our hired bikes. Other insurance, such as medical, lost luggage, tour cancellation or additional liability is at your own discretion. We can offer assistance once your booking is confirmed.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

For safety reasons you should always wear a helmet when you ride a M/C

What are the hotels like on a guide tour?

In Cities we have chosen 3-4 star hotels. Most will have swimming pools/Spas, cable/Sattelite TV and telephone, some internet facilities.

Do I need a M/C drivers licence?

Yes, a valid M/C drivers licence for the rider/hirer is mandatory

What level of experience is required?

You must be at least 25 years old ( Rider ) and have ridden for 2 years.

What is the weather going to be like?

Generally it is summer time, so your normal riding outfit, leathers, chaps, Jeans & T shirts but we do strike rain, so a lightweight, easy to get off and on wet weather outfit is advisable.

How many miles do we ride each day?

The average is approximately 220 miles / 350 kms per day. There will be a few days of approx miles. Every day your guide will brief you on the days itinerary.

Do we have a support vehicle?

NO. This is a carry on your own bike tour, so if you buy too much you should post it home. Hired bikes are usually very low mileage, still under warranty, late model Harleys and so have roadside assist coverage. We always carry tools, just in case.

Will I receive a tour map?

When your booking is confirmed you receive a briefing, then when you final balance is paid you receive a tour bible with the ride, day to day, with maps, hotel maps & facilities and points of interest.

What documentation is required?

Riders need passports, current M/C licence and a credit or debit card. Check with the USA embassy RE your visa requirements ( some months ahead )

Do I have to pay a deposit to make a reservation?

A small deposit of NZ$1000 will ensure your name is pencilled in on the tour & year you wish to go. Then 6 months out a 50% deposit is due. [ we use this to secure bookings & services on your behalf that increase hugely closer to events ] with the balance due 1 month before your tour starts.

What is JD’s Motorsickle refund policy?

Should you be unable to come on your tour then we guarantee to refund your monies less a booking fee of $500nzd plus any booking monies paid on your behalf to secure services for your tour, up to 1 month before your tour starts.
